Nigerian singer, song writer, graphic artist and sculptor Adekunle Kosoko, popularly known as Adekunle Gold is an artist whose genre of music is a combination of urban high life and R&B. He was born in January 1980 as a prince of the royal Kosoko family in Isale Eko, Lagos state, Nigeria.

He is the only son of his parents and has three sisters (one is late). He bagged a national higher diploma (HND) in arts and design from the Lagos state Polytechnic.

The singer developed an interest in music while listening to King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey’s music which his father often played, he also sang in his church choir in his teenage years.
When he was only fifteen years old, he wrote his first song. He was inspired by a sermon in church to add Gold to his name.
Adekunle Gold belong to a music band called ‘The Bridge’ he formed it with a while he was in school, together they released four singles. The Bridge also featured Skales and GT the guitarman. He finally went solo in 2013 and released his first single as a solo artist ‘Sade’.

The success of “SADE” was quite encouraging and a door opener, it earned the singer a contract with Olamide’s YBNL music label, the so her was reluctant in signing the contract but the order was quite juicy and he eventually signed it.

At the expiration of his contract with Olamide’s YBNL Nation, he unveiled his own live band ‘The 79th Element’ a name that represents the atomic number of Gold. His decision to incorporate a live band into his brand, he claims is a directive from God on how to boast his career.
In 2015, he was number three on the list of the most searched person on Google in Nigeria after being famous for photo shopping himself into photos of other Nigerian celebrities. This earned him the moniker “King of Photoshop”.
Adekunle Gold is very passionate about making clean and motivational music, he feels no pressure to change the lyrics of his songs which are written to communicate messages that are pivotal to social change and issues that society can relate with and learn from.
The singer also believes that a true hit song is a song that does not lose its value, relevance and appeal years after it is recorded.
The singer is in a relationship with the beautiful ‘Jamb question‘ crooner Simi. Although they both tried to shield their relationship from prying fans and the public by labelling it as just friendship, it still became generally known a while later. They both made a single from the Gold album titled “No forget”.
The chemistry between these two in this single and love ballad is very evident. In April 2017, admitted on his twitter handle that he wrote his hit song “Orente” for his girlfriend Simi. They were together in a private beach in Lagos on a holiday and do celebrate each other by their social media pages.
Simi also co – produced and mixed ‘Sade’, ‘Orente’, and ‘Pick Up’ from his debut album “Gold”. He mentioned in an interview that has ideal woman is a woman who knows what she wants and goes for it as he dislikes people who are laid back. Simi perfectly fit the description of his ideal woman.
The singer has featured in a movie titled “The CEO” produced by actor and producer Kunle Afolayan.
The singer is a lover of prints, he is always clothed in beautiful African prints that communicates our rich cultural heritage.
He revealed in an interview that whenever he dresses in his prints outside Nigeria, people work up to him in admiration of his outfits and some even request for them.
