Aisha Buhari Speaks On 2023 Election

The First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs Aisha Buhari has finally spoken about the upcoming 2023 general elections.

PM NEWS reports that the First Lady who has recently been criticised in the past 48 hours over invitation of the presidential candidates of all political parties to Ramadan Iftar breakfast spoke during the Iftar dinner for wives of members of the National Assembly at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

At the dinner, Mrs Buhari urged Nigerian women to remain steadfast in prayers and counsel their children to shun any act of violence ahead of the 2023 elections.Information Guide Nigeria

“Permit me to use this opportunity to remind ourselves of our responsibility during the forthcoming electioneering campaign. We should remain steadfast, counsel our children to shun violence, and promote peace for the unity of Nigeria.”

According to PM NEWS, Mrs Buhari charged them not to relent in their quest to achieving 35% affirmative actions for increased women representation in government.

According to PM NEWS, the Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen who was also present at the dinner said her ministry is working hard to ensure that perpetrators of violence against women and girls are prosecuted.

Other dignitaries who attended the dinner include former first lady of Niger Republic Mrs Malika Issoufou, Minister of Trade and Investment, Maryam Katagum, wife of the Speaker House of Representatives, Mrs Salamatu Gbajabiamila, among others.
