On matchday three of the UEFA Champions League, the Dutch champions were defeated 6-1 by Napoli, with Bassey drawing the most attention in the Netherlands.
Mohammed Kudos gave Ajax the lead after nine minutes, but Giacomo Raspadori, Giovanni di Lorenzo, and Piotr Zielinski gave Partenopei a 3-1 lead before halftime.
Raspadori curled in his second goal, assisted by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Giovanni Simeone scored Italy’s sixth goal with a penalty kick in the second half to propel the Italians forward.

The Dutch icon Marco van Basten was critical of the club’s recruitment method after it spent £95 million on new players this summer, despite generating £190 million from player sales.
