You will need to pay a non-refundable administration fee when applying for a Schengen visa in order for your application to be processed. The member countries have synchronized the visa fees, so they are static and unchanging unless decided otherwise by the Schengen states.

At the moment, the fee for a Schengen visa is 80 euros per person. Children and some other specific categories may pay reduced fees or no fees at all, depending on their situation.
