Atiku receives APC defectors in Nasarawa

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, met 10,000 members of the All Progressives Congress who defected to the PDP in Nasarawa State on Monday.InformationGuideNigeria

Atiku greeted the defectors alongside the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, during the party’s presidential campaign event in Lafia, and praised them for having the bravery to leave the APC.

He claimed that the APC-led government at both the national and state levels had failed to provide democratic dividends to the people, adding that if elected in 2023, he would right all wrongs in governance.

He also vowed to generate job opportunities for youngsters across the state’s 13 LGAs and to embark on big projects to strengthen the state’s economy.

“Let me also announce that my administration will construct a road that will link Nasarawa with neighbouring states. So, we want you all to give us your votes the way you gave us in the previous elections,” Atiku added.

On his part, Ayu said despite the APC’s presence in Nasarawa State, he was optimistic that the PDP will give at least 95 per cent votes to Atiku in 2023.

Earlier in his welcome address, the state PDP governorship candidate, David Ombugadu, expressed optimism that the enormous turnout at the gathering proved the state’s preparedness to vote for PDP candidates in the 2023 general election.

He also stated that since entering active politics in 2011, he has provided free healthcare services to 18,000 citizens of the state and has promised to do more for the people if elected governor in 2023.JAMB Portal

“I am challenging the people of the state to ensure that the stolen PDP mandate in 2019 is reclaimed. The time has come for the citizens to be freed from hunger, poverty and hardship under the APC-led government,” he added.
