BREAKING: APC Chairman Announces Consensus Presidential Candidate

Uncertainty reigns within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the national chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu has reportedly announced Senate President Ahmad Lawan as consensus presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

THE CABLE reports that Adamu announced the development at the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) meeting on Monday in Abuja.

The party is also said to have decided that other presidential hopefuls will be allowed to participate in the presidential primary.Information Guide Nigeria

According to THE CABLE, this announcement comes after President Muhammadu Buhari held a meeting with APC governors from the northern region where the decision of the northern governors to zone the APC presidential ticket to the south was discussed.

As reported by THE CABLE, President  Buhari at a meeting with presidential hopefuls on Saturday, asked them to “come up with a formidable” consensus candidate.

President Buhari said, “I wish to remind you that our choice of flagbearer must be formidable, appealing to the electorate across the board and should command such ability to unify the country and capacity to address our critical challenges”. Jamb Result

Meanwhile, other aspirants including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Dr. Kayode Fayemi; Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; David Umahi, among others will be allowed to contest the primary at the convention holding tomorrow at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

Voting for the APC’s presidential candidate is scheduled for Tuesday.
