Ring Rd 3 (4lanes) To Upgrade Afaha Mkt’s Status, Increase Socioeconomic activities
In its avowed commitment to creating enabling environment for investment, create jobs and wealth for the good people of Akwa Ibom, the state government under the able leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel is constructing a (4 lane) Ring road 3, that passed through Afaha market, in Ibesikpo Asutan LGA.
Speaking with the elders of Afaha Etok, concerning government’s intention of developing the area for the purpose of opening up the communities, where the road traversed, Commissioner in charge of ministry of works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyangeyen, said that, Afaha market has been relocated, not quite far from the road, emphasizing that, the road, which is a 4 lane road will help in improving traffic flow from around the market.
Commissioner, Inyangeyen, who was flanked with his counterpart from the ministry of lands and town planning, Commissioner Ime Ekpo, said that, why accident occurs in most cases, in roads, such as this road that links Afaha market, is when drivers try to overtake other vehicles, stressing that, overtaking lanes will not only provide a safe opportunity for overtaking but will also provide short sections of the paved shoulder or added lane where slow vehicles can pull over safely and be overtaken.
The commissioners, while advising the traders of Afaha Etok market to relocate to the new location of the market, appealed to the youths of the area to cooperate with the contractors, handling the project, so that, the project can be completed and delivered to the people of the area for use.
The ongoing construction of Ring Road 3 which traversed from Goodluck Jonathan Boulevard through Oron road, then opened at Nwaniba will be completed at a possible time frame.
