Court rejects sacked AA chair’s appeal

The appeal of the ousted chairman of the Action Alliance party, Chief Kenneth Udeze, was dismissed by a three-member panel of the Abuja appellate court led by its president, Justice Monica.Information Guide Nigeria

Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem declared on Thursday that the appeal seeking to reverse the nullification of Major Hamza Al-candidacy Mustapha’s and others was incompetent.

In the lead opinion, Justice Dongban-Mensem ruled that Udeze was incorrect to file the appeal in the name of Action Alliance and to cite the party as a respondent.

On December 22, Justice Zainab Abubakar of the Federal High Court in Abuja denied Udeze’s request to overturn the November 4 ruling that accepted the candidates supplied by the Dr. Adekunle Rufai Omo-Aje-led party.JAMB portal

During the judgement, it was observed that Udeze’s suspension and expulsion as chairman of the AA had been upheld by two courts of appeal.

Justice Abubakar remarked that in light of the two pending decisions of the Court of Appeal and another ruling by a Federal High Court in Abeokuta, Udeze has no legal standing to assert his claim to the party’s chairmanship.

The court described Udeze as an outsider attempting to interfere with the operations of the party from which he was expelled and declared that her prior judgement on November 4 was not gained by fraud, as Udeze claimed.

On January 7 and November 11, 2022, the appellate court rendered its two decisions.

Prior to that, on November 4, 2022, Justice Abubakar directed INEC to accept the list of candidates given by the Omo-Aje leadership of the AA and to dismiss the list submitted by Udeze, in which Major Hamzat Al-Mustpha was a presidential candidate.JAMB Result
