FG approves N48.5bn for urgent repairs of roads nationwide

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Works and Housing and signed by the Special Adviser for Communications, Hakeem Bello, the action was consistent with the federal government’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s road network in the six geopolitical zones.

It cited the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), who stated that the deteriorating condition of federal roads across the nation required the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to “procure” the projects in its amended 2022 appropriation.JAMB Result

He noted that the projects would contribute to the federal government’s goal of repairing the nation’s road network as part of the implementation of the National Development Plan 2021-2025.

The minister received approval for the awarding of contracts for urgent repairs and special general maintenance for the Gorgaram – Guri Road in Yobe state, valued at N40.907 billion, with a completion period of 36 months, and the rehabilitation of the 90-kilometer Buni Gari – Gulani road in Yobe state, valued at N4.785 billion, with a completion period of 36 months.

The rebuilding of Water Corporation Drive and Trinity Avenue in Victoria Island, Lagos State, was also granted approval. This project was approved for N2.826 billion with a completion period of 36 months.

The building of Gorgaram – Guri Road in Yobe state will be carried out by Messrs Mothercat Limited, according to the approvals that followed the minister of works and housing’s submission of a memorandum to the council.

It also stated that Messrs Hikam Engineering and Consultancy Limited will be responsible for the rehabilitation of the Buni Gari – Gulani road, while Messrs Wizchino Engineering Limited will be responsible for the repair of Water Corporation Drive and Trinity Avenue.
