Four Anambra men gang-rape teenager over father’s ‘sin’

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, Anambra State, in partnership with vigilantes, has apprehended three individuals suspected of committing a gang rape against a 13-year-old girl.

PUNCH Metro reported that four suspects were involved in the event,  while three of them were caught, and the fourth suspect escaped when security agents attacked their area in Nkpor, Anambra State, near Onitsha.

Ify Obinabo, the state’s Commissioner for Women and Social Affairs, confirmed the event to journalists in Awka on Wednesday via her media assistant, Chidimma Ikeanyionwu.Information Guide Nigeria

She said that the perpetrators had been sent to the state police headquarters in Awka, where they would be prosecuted.

The commissioner commended the victim for speaking out after the incident, assuring her that she would receive justice.

During interrogation, two of the suspects allegedly confessed to the crime and begged for forgiveness, stating that they raped the victim following a dispute with her father.

The third suspect, though, stated that he was simply present throughout the incident.

According to reports, contrary to his assertions, the victim stated that he was the second person to have physical contact with her.

“The victim, while narrating her experience, said she was first slapped by the boys, then dragged to Nkisi, before she was ordered to remove her clothes as the suspects took turns to have carnal knowledge of her,” the commissioner added.
