If truly education can be so expensive that, a post primary school could charged such amount of money, I wonder how many Nigerian children could afford this to earn education in this country as their fundamental human rights.

PTDF Scholarship Scheme

Government of Nigeria through the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources offers scholarship to Nigerians, who are undergraduates to study either in Nigeria or overseas, the scholarship comes with approved courses.

Masters and PhD students who are of Nigerian origin also benefit from this scholarship.

This scholarship offered by the federal government of Nigeria is called, ‘PTDF scholarship scheme’, and its deadline is normally October, every year.

Nigerian Scholarship Award Tenable in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions

This particular scholarship is also offered by the federal government of Nigeria to Nigerian undergraduates, postgraduates, and students going for HND, and NCE benefit from this scholarship award and it is a free scholarship award with deadline in April of every year.

Lagos State Scholarship Award

This scholarship is a state government scholarship, and it is offered by the Lagos state government, and beneficiaries of this scholarship are restricted to students who are of Lagos state origin.

In meeting the mandate of this scholarship scheme, the Lagos state established scholarship board to award scholarship to qualified Lagosians, and the scholarship is for both local and overseas studies.

Though this scholarship is mainly for students from Lagos state, through the directive of the governor, non indigenes can benefit from the scholarship.

Students who won this scholarship award are expected to be in full-time studies in any institution of higher learning in Nigeria, its deadline is not specific.

Chevron/NNPC National University Scholarship

This scholarship is sponsored by oil companies, the Chevron Nigeria and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, and it is strictly for Nigerian students who are in their second year in Nigerian universities.

One of the conditions of this scholarship scheme is that the students must be in full-time study, and the courses must be approved courses in any university in the country, because the scholarship is always for the entire education programme, and no person is restricted from this scholarship award. Its deadline is around March every year.

Shell Nigeria University Scholarship Programme

This is another scholarship sponsored by an oil company, the Shell Petroleum Development Company.

Shell Nigeria, through this scholarship scheme allowed Nigerian students the opportunity to study in Nigerian universities, and Nigerian students who benefits from this scholarship scheme are those who are in their first year in Nigerian universities.

The aim of this scheme is to promote excellence in academic, and to improve the skills of young Nigerians. The scholarship award comes as an annual grant to Nigerian students. Its deadline is October every year.

MTN Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship

This scholarship is sponsored by one of the telecommunication company in Nigeria, MTN Nigeria.

This scholarship scheme has been slated for full-time Nigerian undergraduates, who are studying different disciplines in different institutions of higher learning in Nigeria, and that covers Colleges of Education, Polytechnics and Universities.

The advantage this scholarship scheme over others is that, the scheme covers stipends and allowances, tuition fees and book for the period of one academic year. Its deadline is October or November.

American University of Nigeria Scholarship

This scholarship scheme is not restricted to any section of Nigerian indigenes, it is for all students.

Since one of the mandates of the institution is to encourage academic excellence, they have allowed the students the opportunity to earn education and brighten their career in the cause of their education pursuit.
