Hoodlums rape Kwara varsity students, arrested with 87 phones

Three suspects are allegedly accused of robbing and sexually assaulting some female students at the Kwara State University, Malete, in the Kwara State local government area, according to police officials from the Kwara State command who claimed to have detained them on Sunday.Infomation Guide Nigeria

The accused, all residents of Ilorin’s Oke Fomo neighbourhood, are Ridwan Abdulfatai (20), Ibrahim Akorede (25), and Aliyu Apalado (25).

In a statement, SP Ajayi Okasanmi, the state police’s public information officer, said that the arrest was made in response to accusations from a number of female students who claimed they had been robbed in their Malete hostel at the stroke of midnight on Friday, October 7, 2022.

“He led investigators to effect the arrest of two other members of the gang, Ibrahim Ridwan Akorede, 25, of Oke Fomo area of Ilorin, and Aliyu Abubakar Apalado, 25; they all confessed to the crimes.

“The investigation also led to the recovery of the following items: one locally-made gun, one jackknife and charms, 11 generators, two motorcycles, one small fridge, one standing fan and one pumping machine.

Okasanmi claimed that the police commissioner had promised to bring the accused before the court after the investigation was complete.
