The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) CBT examination is comprised of 4 subjects, of which the English language is compulsory. Each paper in the JAMB UTME/DE examination is made up of 40 questions, except for Use of English, which is made up of 60 questions, making a total of 180 questions. How to Calculate your JAMB Score

To calculate your JAMB UTME score, follow the procedures below:

  • Step 1: It is important to know that all JAMB UTME subjects other than the Use of English have 40 questions for each subjectNpower recruitment
  • Step 2: Use of English in the JAMB UTME exam has 60 questions
  • Step 3: Candidates are required to attempt all 180 questions
  • Step 4: To calculate your JAMB score, divide your Pass Score by 40
  • Step 5: After diving your Pass score by 40, multiply it by 100
  • Step 6: For example, if you scored 27 out of 40 in physics, then your JAMB score would be: 28/40 × 100 = 70. That means your score in physics is 70
  • Step 7: If you answer all 40 questions correctly, then you’d have 40/40 × 100 = 100

How to Calculate JAMB Use of English Score

The JAMB Use of English is quite different from the other 3 subjects. Here, you are given 60 questions to answer. These questions are divided into 3 sections; the Comprehension/Summary section, the Lexis, and Structure section, and the Oral Forms section. Below is a breakdown of the sections in use of English

Section A: Comprehension /Summary

This section comprises the following:

  • 1 Comprehension passage: Made up of 5 questions
  • 1 Cloze passage: Made up of 10 questions
  • 1 reading text: Made up of 10 questionsWAEC result

Making a total of 25 questions in section A

Section B: Lexis and Structure

This section comprises the following:

  • Sentence Interpretation: Made up of 5 questions
  • Antonyms: Made up of 5 questions
  • Synonyms: Made up of 5 questions
  • Sentence Completion: Made up of 10 questionsJAMB form

Making a total of 25 questions in section B

Section C: Oral Forms

This section comprises of 10 questions only.

Sum total of all questions in JAMB Use of English = 25 + 25+ 10 = 60 questions.

The scoring mechanism for the use of English is similar to other subjects in the JAMB UTME exam. To calculate your JAMB use of English score follows the procedures below:JAMB Result

  • Step 1: To calculate your JAMB use of English score, divide your Pass Score by 60
  • Step 2: After diving your Pass score by 60, multiply it by 100
  • Step 3: For example, if you scored 42 out of 60 in your use of English exam, then your JAMB score would be: 42/60 × 100 = 70. That means your score in the use of English is 70
  • Step 7: If you answer all 60 questions correctly, then you’d have 40/40 × 100 = 100
