How to Qualify for the NYSC Program

To be eligible to partake in the NYSC program, you must first be a Nigerian citizen, who has obtained a full-time degree from a higher Institution. It does not matter if you obtained the degree from another country. After graduating and obtaining your degree, it’s time to confirm if your name is on the JAMB Matriculation List. Keep in mind that only graduates whose names are on the JAMB Matriculation list are eligible for the NYSC program. Hence, check online to confirm if your name is on the list. Don’t know how to? After confirming your name on the NYSC JAMB Matriculation list, you will have to check the NYSC Senate list too to check if your name has been uploaded to the NYSC portal. If your name is not on the senate list, you will not be deployed for service, even after graduating. Steps on how to check the NYSC senate list are also contained in this post. Once your name has appeared on the NYSC senate list, then know that you are fully qualified for the NYSC program. You just have to visit the NYSC portal and create an account to get started.

How to Check Your Name on the NYSC JAMB Matriculation List

To check your name on the NYSC JAMB Matriculation list, follow the procedures below:

  1. Go to the JAMB Matriculation list portal via https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/CheckMatriculationList
  2. Select your JAMB examination year
  3. Enter your JAMB registration number into the required column
  4. Click on the “Fetch My details” icon below
  5. A message will pop up on your screen. You’ll see the message “Congratulations” if you’re eligible for the NYSC program
  6. If you receive the following messages “Kindly print JAMB admission letter” or “Kindly print JAMB result slip” or “Kindly print JAMB admission letter and result slip” or “ you are not given admission yet” then you are currently not eligible for the NYSC program. After confirming your name on the JAMB Matriculation list, the next step is to confirm your name on the NYSC senate list. Only prospective corps members whose names are found on the list will be mobilized for service.

What is the NYSC Senate list?

The NYSC Senate List also known as the NYSC Mobilization List is a list of graduates that have been approved by the Senate of Corps Producing Institutions (CPIs) to partake in the mandatory one-year National Youth Service Corps Program. Any prospective corps member whose name is not found on the Senate list will not be eligible to register for the NYSC program.WAEC result

Hence, all prospective corps members should endeavour to check their names on the NYSC senate list, and prospective corps members who cannot find their names on the list should proceed to their tertiary institution to lodge a complain. However, if your name is on the list, then you can proceed to the NYSC portal to commence your registration.JAMB form

Note: The NYSC Senate List contains only the names of Home-trained Nigerian graduates. Foreign-trained graduates do not need to check the senate list for deployment.

How to Check Your Name on the NYSC Senate List

To check the NYSC senate list for all institutions, follow the procedures below:

  1. Visit the official NYSC portal via Https://portal.nysc.org.ng
  2. On the NYSC portal locate “Check Senate List or its equivalents” and click on the link
  3. Select your tertiary institution
  4. Enter your Matriculation number into the space provided
  5. Enter your correct Surname into the space provided
  6. Select your correct Date of Birth
  7. Click on the Search icon below
  8. Your NYSC Senate list status will be displayed on the screen.JAMB Result

Note: If the message “No Records Found” is displayed on the screen, then you need to visit your tertiary institution to find out why your name is not on the senate list.
