I abandoned W’Cup final to chair wedding – Jonathan

Sunday’s World Cup final between France and Argentina was missed by former President Goodluck Jonathan as he presided over a wedding event instead.Information Guide Nigeria

Jonathan said this in Abuja during the wedding of Olufunso Ayileka and former Miss Ayibadiepriye Igali, who is the daughter of Dr. Godknows Igali, a former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Power and ex-Ambassador to Scandinavia.

Lee Maeba, a former senator from the Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, criticized the police investigation into the alleged political thugs’ attack on his properties while speaking at the event. He threatened to take the police commissioner, Okon Effiong, to court for his alleged bias.

“I never expected this great gathering because of the 2022 World Cup football final between France and Argentina. I was watching it when I was told it was time for the wedding reception. I had to leave and come here,” Jonathan said.NYSC portal

Friends of the couple’s family were in attendance at the wedding, including Senator Cleopas Moses, former Chief of Staff to Jonathan, Chief Mike Ogiadomhen, former Senate President Pius Anyim, and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, who was represented by Oseloka Obaze (Bayelsa Central).
