There have been unsuccessful attempts by the party to bring the warring parties to the negotiating table, as the governors of Rivers, Oyo, Abia, Benue, and Enugu continue to distance themselves from Atiku’s presidential campaign activities and demand Ayu’s resignation.
Former Benue State governor Gabriel Suswam declared on Thursday’s episode of The Morning Show on Arise Television that Jonathan had been drafted to end the situation.
According to reports, the unhappy governors opened the door to reconciliation, and Atiku instantly declared his willingness to engage with them in the best interest of the party as a whole.
In response to this event, the former president issued a statement through his media adviser, Ikechukwu Eze, denying any involvement in the party crisis.

The statement titled, ‘Re: Aggrieved PDP governors loyal to Jonathan’, read in part, “Our attention has been drawn to news media and social media reports linking former President Dr Goodluck Jonathan’s name to the current troubles in the Peoples Democratic Party with a false claim that the aggrieved PDP governors are demonstrating their loyalty to him.
