Football.london has it that Mauricio Pochettino is looking to win his first trophy in England and this evening’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Newcastle United could prove crucial in doing just that. Chelsea are not involved in any European competition this season and the Premier League title is a farfetched – to say the least – dream, so Pochettino recognises the significance of tonight’s match.informationguidenigeria
“Of course I want to a trophy here in England,” Pochettino told reporters at Cobham on Monday. “I want to lift a trophy now in this competition because it is important. “My wish and my desire is to win and this is one of the competitions we are involved in and it is possible. We need to respect our opponents, Newcastle are going to be tough, we need to deserve to go through to the final.”informationguidenigeria

The Blues looked much better against the Blades, but there is scope for some rotation at Stamford Bridge.JAMB Portal
In terms of the goalkeeper, Pochettino does not have too much choice at the moment. Robert Sanchez has been ruled out for a few weeks with a knee injury, so Djordje Petrovic is set to keep his place in between the posts after keeping a clean sheet on his full Chelsea debut at the weekend.JAMB Portal
There could be a change at right-back, though, with Malo Gusto now back to full fitness. The 20-year-old defender returned to the squad at the weekend and was used very late on in the win in west London. Gusto could come in on the right-hand side of a back-four, with Axel Disasi slotting in centrally in a more orthodox position for him. Thiago Silva is expected to drop out of the side, with Pochettino wary of overplaying the 39-year-old, meaning it will be one of Benoit Badiashile or Levi Colwill next to Disasi.NYSC Portal

Colwill could once again play at left-back, with Chelsea rather short of options in that position. Ian Maatsen is fit and available but does not seem to be part of Pochettino’s first-team plans at the moment. And whenever the Netherlands international is used, it is usually in attack rather than at left-back.NYSC Portal
Enzo Fernandez could return to the team after starting from the bench on Saturday. Chelsea could return to a three-man midfield with Newcastle likely to cause more problems in attack than Sheffield United did.
Pochettino is expecting a reaction from Enzo after leaving him out from the start against the Blades. “I think if you see the games before, there were players also on the bench,” Pochettino said on Saturday when asked about his decision to leave Fernandez out of the starting lineup. “When you are in a really busy period, I think players need to understand that you can play, but maybe sometimes [you need a] rest and then the best combination. When they are all fit, you maybe need different combinations for different games. You need to wait and then to show that maybe I made a mistake.”NYSC Portal
If Fernandez comes in, an attacker is likely to drop out. Based on Saturday’s showing, that is likely to be Mykhailo Mudryk, with Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling both producing electric second-half performances to help Chelsea claim all three points.
