A Federal High Court in Lagos State has convicted Chinyere Raman, a mother of five, to ten years in prison for trafficking a woman to Libya.Informaion Guide Nigeria
Friday, Justice Abimbola Awogboro delivered the verdict, convicting her of human trafficking and promoting prostitution.

She was accused of purchasing the victim for 300,000 Libyan dinars from a Cameroonian believed to be at large in order to exploit and prostitute her.
When she returned from Libya on February 22, 2019, she was apprehended at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, Nigeria.

She was transported to court after her detention on two counts of human trafficking and promoting prostitution.

Ghislaine Maxwell, a British socialite, was convicted of sex trafficking.
NAPTIP asserts that the offences violate sections 18 and 21 of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administrative Act of 2015 and are penalised under the same portion of the Act.
She entered a not-guilty plea to the accusation brought against her.
In response to her not-guilty plea, the prosecution presented its case by calling witnesses and introducing numerous evidence.

The judge imposed a five-year prison term on each of the two offences against the offender.Jamb Result
However, Justice Awogboro directed that the sentences run consecutively and begin on the day of the offender’s arrest, February 22, 2019.
