NNPC, PTI to deploy anti-theft systems on pipelines

Henry Adimula, Principal/Chief Executive, PTI, stated at the 50th Anniversary of the Petroleum Training Institute in Abuja that the institute had created an oil anti-theft integrated monitoring system to successfully monitor pipelines.

Adimula, who noted that this was one of the PTI’s most recent innovations, stated, “We have developed an oil anti-theft integrated monitoring system for pipeline monitoring and an air quality monitoring system.

“We have Al’s and have developed a corrosion robot for early detection of localised corrosion and prevent loss of integrity of the facilities, among others.”

The Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC, Mele Kyari, responded to this while delivering his remarks at the ceremony by stating that the oil corporation was delighted to learn of the institute’s pipeline monitoring efforts.

Then, he told the PTI that NNPC would collaborate with the institute to implement the technology to further enhance the surveillance of NNPC’s pipelines in Nigeria in an effort to combat crude oil theft.
