No Quran Verse Supports Unjust Killing, Blasphemy – Akewugbagold

Sheik Taofeek Akewugbagold, a popular Islamic scholar, has said that the Islamic religion frowned at the unjust killing over blasphemy.Information Guide Nigeria

According to INDEPENDENT, Akewugbagold said this while speaking on the killing of Deborah Samuel, a student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto.

INDEPENDENT reports that Sheik Taofeek Akewugbagold emphasised that no verses of the holy Quran support such acts.

According to INDEPENDENT Akewugbagold said though blasphemy was a very grievous offence in Islam, there are rules to be followed before punishment could be meted out to anyone who committed such an offence.

Akewugbagold said that anyone accused of blasphemy must be allowed to defend his/herself at the Shariah Court and thorough investigation must be conducted before a judge could pass judgment.

He added that many verses of the Quran where Allah directs Prophet Muhammed (S.A.W) to be patient and ignore any negative things people say about him.
