The maiden Seplat Teachers Empowerment Programme (STEP) made its debut in Benin City, Edo State, on November 23, 2020, and lasted five days for the first phase. The five-day residential Workshop introductory phase kicks off a six-month programme specially designed for Teachers providing them training on teaching applications for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) as well as leadership and self-improvement training.
According to the recent news from Punch Newspaper, About 206 teachers from Edo and Delta states will benefit from the second edition of the empowerment programme.
Director, External Affairs and Sustainability of the programme, Chioma Nwachukwu, in her remarks at the formal inauguration of commencement of the three-month programme in Benin on Sunday, said that the benefitting teachers include 200 teachers and six_Chief Inspectors of Education.
Represented by Esther Icha, Manager, Cooperate Social Responsibility, Seplat, Nwachukwu disclosed that the process for the selection of the benefiting teachers commenced with an online test.
She explained that 874 teachers registered from all schools across Edo and Delta, adding that at the end of the test, 200 teachers and six CIEs were selected. Utme result
She disclosed that the beneficiaries were drawn from 28 schools each from both states. She added that the strategy for selection include five teachers each representing every public schools and two from private schools.

- Fill an Expression of Interest form and get it signed by your Principal or Proprietor (collect from you CIE or send an email to email@example.com)
- Submit online or via your CIE
- Login details and data will be sent to your registered phone number
- ONLY Qualified schools will be sent a text message and the Ministry of Education will also contact your school.

Note: Teachers who were in the previous edition are not eligible to sit for the test or participate.
