Pioneer APGA Chieftain wants to become national chairman of the party

A pioneer APGA chieftain and a founding member of All Progressive  Grand Alliance, APGA, who also served the party sometimes as a member of the Board of Trustees, BoT, Chief Onwuka Ukwa has made his intentions public, indicating interest to contest for the office of the national chairman of the party.
Onwuka made his intention known to newsmen in Enugu at the weekend, and according to him; “APGA has lost focus and people no longer have faith and trust in the party. It has lost focus of why that viable political platform was established.
“For many years, I was the lone voice fighting and pointing out the decay and corruption in the party. Corruption in APGA  did not start with the current chairman, Chief Victor Oye, there was already an established corrupt pattern,” Onwuka said.
Onwuka who said that the party was formed by him, and Chekwas Okorie and Prince Arthur Eze, also expressed regret that the vision that compelled the formation of APGA has long been abandoned.
“People have created their own stories of how the party was formed. I feel this is the time to put the records straight. It was initially called UPGA, the person that gave it that name was Prince Arthur Eze.
“When Chekwas muted the idea, I took him to Prince Arthur Eze were I convinced him (Eze) to finance the party. His response was that “it is important for everyone to have an address. He came up with the name UPGA and we accepted it and he provided the finance. That was how the journey started in his parlour. He also brought the name APGA when it became necessary,” Onwuka concluded.
