Rita Dominic

Rita Uchenna Nkem Dominic Waturuocha fondly known as ReeDee and the queen of zamunda is a Nigerian actress who has been active in the movie industry for almost two decades.

She was born on the 12th of July 1975 in her place of origin Abo Mbaise, Imo state, eastern Nigeria to a royal family.

Her mother was a nurse and her father, a medical doctor; both are now deceased. She has three elder siblings. ReeDee as she is fondly called by her colleagues and friends attended the federal government college, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom state then went ahead to the university of Port Harcourt to study theater art and graduated in 1999.

The fourty two years old actress who is endowed with talent and beauty started exhibiting traits of becoming an artist as a child. She performed in school plays and grew up with a passion for stage.

She began to act professionally in 1998 and has currently starred in over one hundred Nollywood movies and has collaborated with producer Mildred Okwo and award winning screen writer Tunde Babalola to produce her own movies under the company Audrey Silva which she co owns.

Her first self produced movie “The meeting” released in 2012 won several accolades in Nigeria and was a successful movie.

It starred Kate Henshaw, Femi Jacob, Linda Ejiofor, Jide Kosoko, Chinedu Ikedezie and her beautiful self. It told a story of love, corruption and tribalism that eats deep into the Nigerian society.

It received six nominations at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards and eleven nominations at the 2013 Nollywood Movies Awards.

Other movies she has co produced are “Surulere” in 2015 and the “Guardian” in 2017.
Rita is a thespian, a fond loving professional who is best friends with fellow actresses Michelle Dede and Thelma Okoduwa ojiji.

She is one of the most revered actresses in the industry who values her private life and keeps it out of the public eye.

TASC is a leading entertainment company, a film production company co-founded by Rita Dominic and Nollywood producer Mildred Okwo in 2010 with the aim of boosting new talents and actors.

TASC produced and distributed “The Meeting” in 2012, “Surulere” in 2015, “The Guardian” in 2017 and is set to launch a new Television series titled “Sun Country Bank”.

Endorsements And Net Worth

ReeDee is unarguably one of Nigeria’s richest and most influential on screen divas in Nigeria and Africa. The fashion enthusiast has several endorsements deals to boost her profile and brand as one of the oldest Nollywood actors.

While dispensing her duties as an ambassador for zaron cosmetics, she took part in the “Hunger Free Day” initiative aimed at feeding deprived communities in and expressing love to them by entertaining them with music and gifts. When Nigeria turned fifty, Rita was invited to Kenya as a special guest of the Nigerian Embassy in recognition of her contributions to the film industry in Africa.

She took part in a charity walk organized by the wife of the kenyan minister to raise awareness funds for the Kenyan Paraplegic Organization.

The proceeds of sales of BK hair of which she is an ambassador are donated towards cancer research and to cancer patients undergoing treatment.

Controversy

The queen of Zamunda who is single and has maintained a scandal free profile in the industry. She has romantically linked with international football star Mikel Obi and co actor Jim Iyke in the past.

She has graced the cover of many magazines and recently the “Schick” magazine where she disclosed that societal pressure on being single at fourty two sometimes gets to her but she believes she will settle down when the time is right and she admits that she is ready for motherhood.
