Rivers Assembly Tussle: Court Restrains Amaewhule From Parading Self As Speaker

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has granted an interim injunction restraining Martin Chike Amaewhule.informationguidenigeria

CHANNELS TV reports that Amaewhule maintains that he is the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, along with his deputy, Dumle Maol.

The court also restrained the lawmakers from preventing the legislative duties and functions of Edison Ehie as Speaker in accordance with Sections 90-104 of the constitution, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed in the suit.

As reported by CHANNELS TV, the court also granted an interlocutory injunction restraining the Inspector General of Police; Director, Department of State Services; and the Commisioner of Police in the state from giving effect to any instruction issued by Amaewhule and Maol aimed at disturbing, obstructing or interfering with the legislative proceedings of the assembly.NYSC PORTAL
