Royal Mint releases first official coins featuring King Charles III

The first official King Charles III coins, which will start circulating in December, have been released by the Royal Mint.Information Guide Nigeria

The 50-pence coins depicting the new monarch, according to the Royal Mint, were designed by British sculptor Martin Jennings and were given Charles’s personal approval.

According to royal custom, the king is depicted on the coin facing left, as opposed to the coin showing Queen Elizabeth II, who is his mother.JAMB Result

“Charles has followed that general tradition that we have in British coinage, going all the way back to Charles II actually, that the monarch faces in the opposite direction to their predecessor,” said Chris Barker from the Royal Mint museum.

To honor the former monarch’s life and legacy, The Mint will release a collection of commemorative coins on October 3.

It will be a part of a larger memorial coin series that was made by artist John Bergdahl in association with the Royal Mint.

Even after the new coins enter circulation, all UK coins featuring the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II will continue to be accepted as legal currency and to be used in commerce.

“To ensure everyone can hold a piece of history in their hand, the 50p will also enter circulation in the UK.”
