In the Android world, Samsung is the king. The company have continuously designed phones with aesthetic design, rich and vibrant display, strong processors and above all blazing performance.

This year, the story remains the same. The duo of Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge was nothing short of spectacular.

In making the Galaxy S6 and the S6 edge, Samsung replaced the usual plastic material with glass for the front(as usual) and the rear. And aluminium material for the edge. The end products are two stunningly beautiful devices.

For the Galaxy S6, it has a physical size of 6.8mm and weighs 138g. The front is made of glass. At the top of the front glasss, are an array of sensors including the ambient light sensor and the front facing camera.

Right at the bottom center lies the well placed lozenge home button which also serve very well as the finger print sensor.

The edge is wrapped by an aluminium band splitted by plastic strips. At the right side of the aluminium edge you will find the power button. While the left side of the edge accommodates the volume buttons

The bottom of the phone accommodates the headphone jack, the microUSB port and the speaker. This looks a bit similar to what is obtainable in the iPhone 6.

Flip the phone over, and you will find the protruding 16MP rear camera and the LED flash. Some people complain of this protruding camera which makes the device bump when placed on a flat surface. But I don’t have a problem with that.

Then a bit down the back, you will find the Samsung logo boldly imprinted on the glass back.

In all the design of the S6 is stunning. But using the elegant black sapphire variant can be a hard work as it requires constant cleaning to keep off finger prints. Though, it is still my favourite of all the available colours.

The Galaxy S6 edge has a physical size of 7mm and weighs 132g. That is a little physically thicker than the S6 but surprisingly lighter in weight. Apart from the amazingly striking dual curved edges of the S6 edge, every other design in the front remains the same with what we see in the S6.

However, the dual curved design in the front meant that the edge is a lot tinier than normal. While the back remains flat as well with the protruding rear camera and LED flash.

In all, the Galaxy S6 edge offered a beautiful design. Especially at the front. And an improvement over the Galaxy note edge. But, i still prefer the design of the S6 even without the curved edges.

For Samsung, brilliant display has always been a tradition. So, the S6 and S6 edge comes with the sharpest screen in the industry.

The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge sports a 5.1-inch super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 by 2560 pixels at 577 ppi pixel density. The screen on these devices are simply superb. Offering full sRGB standard vibrant colour display.

However, the dual curved display of the Galaxy S6 edge remains the difference between the two.

This feature allows the user to read important notifications, view news feeds, view text messages, see weather updates and sports updates and so on.

So, it’s not just a curved screen edges. It performs some trivial functions.

The Gorilla Glass 4 covering ensures the screens of these stunners are always safe from scratch and knocks.

The duo of Galaxy S6 and S6 edge runs Android OS v5.0.2 (Lollipop) alongside Exynos 7420 chipset. Internally, this is supported by Octa core processor split into quad core 1.5GHz cortex-A53 and quad core 2.1GHz cortex-A57 supported by Mali-T760MP8 GPU.

So, with either of the two, optimal performance is assured. However, the user interface is not as good as the well laid, amazing and responsive interface of the HTC sense 7.

The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge comes fitted with a rear camera of 16MP. With features such as phase detect auto-focus, dual LED flash and even a 4k video recording capability. This guarantees you of a amazing pictures with every important detail in place.

The inclusion of the OIS feature makes for less blurred images and videos. So, with these flagship devices from Samsung, you are sure of well toned photos and videos without loosing important details to blurs and shakes.

The Galaxy S6 is powered by an inbuilt battery of 2550mAh. This is far smaller than the 2800mAh that came with Galxy S5. The S6 edge is powered by an inbuilt battery of 2600mAh.

These devices are flawed by their battery capacity. Which was due to the slim design of the phone.

And though they offer great displays for watching movies and playing games, the battery capacities does not encourage that. But they still offer good standby and talk time.

However, the wireless charging and fast charging features of this phone is enough to augment for this little flaw.

On the connectivity end, the S6 and the S6 edge offers you all you can get from a high-end smartphone. Bluetooth v4.1, NFC(for Google pay), Wi-Fi, 4G.

1. Like I earlier stated, this devices are superb but greatly flawed by the small battery capacity.

2. The batteries are not removable which is also a downside to the phone. Given the preference of removal battery phones by numerous Android enthusiasts.

3. These are phones every one would love to own and have a feel of what these sleek devices offer. But the prices are discouraging.

For me, these are the best phones released in 2015. Particularly, the S6. Amazing design, vibrant and sharp display. And above all, a blazing performance.

The fast charging technology built into the phone adequately compliment the limited battery capacity and non-removable of the battery. More so, the availability of power packs renders such a feature less useful.

If you can afford any of these phones, go for it and enjoy the amazing experience that only Samsung can offer.

Mind you, am not advertising for Samsung. But I held this phone and couldn’t drop it for hours. It’s sleek design is nothing short of premium and mind blowing.

Others in the Samsung series are; Samsung Galaxy Alpha, and Samsung Galaxy A8.
