Biography of Tuface Idibia

Innocent Ujuah Idibia, known as Tuface or 2Baba is one of the most celebrated and bankable Nigerian singers, song write, music producer and entrepreneur. He owns the music label HYPERTEK ENTERTAINMENT.

He was born in Jos, Plateau State on the 18th of September 1975 but hails from idoma tribe of Oturkpo in Benue state, Nigeria. He is the oldest in a family of three.

He adopted he stage name 2face in 1996 in a bid to differentiate his personal life and business life. Tuface or 2face has discontinued with the name 2face and now goes by the name 2baba or Tubaba.

Innocent idibia attended Saint Gabriella’s Secondary School in markurdi, Benue State in central Nigeria after which he enrolled at the institute of management and technology Enugu state for a diploma course in business administration and management.

While in school, he performed at shows, events and parties even in neighbouring institutes and composed jingles at the GB fan club at Enugu state broadcasting services (ESBS) in 1996.

In the course of this, he met rapper Blackface (Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo). 2baba later dropped out of school to pursue his career in music.

After he dropped out of school, 2face moved to Lagos where he teamed up with Blackface and Faze (Chibuzor Orji) to form a band known as the PLANTASHUN BOIZ where his career officially kicked off.

They successfully recorded and released two studio albums under the music label ‘Dove records’ which was owned by Nelson Brown.

They later disbanded in 2004 as each member started their solo careers. In 2007, the band came back briefly together and recorded a third studio album which was tilted ‘Plan B’.

In 2004, after 2Baba left the PLANTASHUN BOIZ, he recorded his solo album tilted ‘Face 2 Face’ which established him as a talented artist.

His second album, ‘Grass 2 Grace was released in 2006 under the music label KENNIS MUSIC. In 2008, 2baba recorded a promotional album titled ‘unstoppable ’but the distribution of the album encountered challenges that shifted the release date to 2009 as an international edition. He became the first artiste to have a appropriately priced international album.

2baba left KENNIS MUSIC to set up his own label, HYPERTEK ENTERTAINMENT which he runs till date. He is the first non-Liberian to become an honorary member of the Liberian music society in a bid to recognize his contributions towards music in Africa,.

In September 2015, 2Baba held an all-star tribute concert tagged #FORTYfied to mark his 40th birthday and influence in the Nigerian music industry.

It held at the Eko Hotel and Suites Convention in Victoria Island, Lagos; hosted by Basketmouth and well attended by dignitaries with performances from notable musicians in the industry.

In 2006, his award winning single ‘African queen’ was used as a sound track for a comedy film in Hollywood ‘Phat Girlz’.

2Baba equally loves and cares for the seven children he has fathered from different women: Annie Macaulay, Sumbo Ajaba and Pero Adeniyi.

He married Annie Macaulay on the 2nd of May 2012 in a private ceremony in Lagos Nigeria. On the 8th of March 2013, they had their traditional wedding in Eket, Akwaibom State and their white wedding took place in Dubai on the 23rd of March 2013 in the presence of some Ghanaian and Nigerian celebrities.

2Baba and his wife have two lovely daughters together. In May 2016, 2Baba received an honorary degree from the igbinedion university courtesy the Esama of Benin Kingdom and founder of the university, Gabriel Igbinedion.

2Baba has been attacked by armed robbers and has been shot at another incidence and both times, he almost lost his life.

2Baba has collaborated with MI Abaga, Sir Victor Olaiya, Sound Sutan, 9ice, Beenie man and Reggie Rockstone, Psquare, and many others.

He held the biggest music concert of 2016 with MI Abaga titled ‘Buckwyld n Breathless at the Eko Hotels in Lagos state Nigeria.

2Baba is one of Nigeria’s wealthiest entertainers, who apart from music is also into real estate. He is said to be worth about $22 million.
He owns RUMOURS night clubs in Festac town and ikeja.

In 2009, he signed a multimillion naira deal with etisalat and other deals with Airtel, Guinness and Nigerian breweries. In the same year, he became brand ambassador for National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and control and the youth ambassador for peace summit.

In April 2016, he became brand ambassador for Campari and partner mobile and in 2015 he was an ambassador for globacom.

He was also a judge on the first edition of ‘the voice Nigeria’ which recorded in South Africa, alongside Timi Dakolo, Waje Iruobe and Patoranking.

He is part of the Sony all African one8 project with seven other music acts across Africa, he also owns an NGO 2face idibia reach out foundation whose motto is ‘service to humanity’.
