UI lauds security man for returning lost purse containing money, valuables

The Vice Chancell or of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale has enjoined Nigerians to emulate one of the security personnel in the institution who returned a purse that contained money and other valuable items to the owner. DAILY POST reports.

Adebowale made this known when the management of the institution honoured the security officer yesterday.

DAILY POST recalls that an Assistant Security Officer in the institution, Mr. Amidu Oyekanmi, had on Tuesday 7th March 2023, found a purse belonging to another member of staff.Information Guide Nigeria

It was gathered that the purse contained ATM cards, a driver’s licence and other important documents, and some amount of money.

But the good samaritan returned the purse to the rightful owner, intact.

Adebowale while presenting the letter to Oyekanmi, said in a world where negative news stories get more attention, it is exciting to celebrate honesty and integrity.

The Vice-Chancellor enjoined Nigerians to emulate what Oyekanmi did.

He noted that “if all Nigerians, irrespective of religious persuasions, made honesty and integrity their watchwords, the country would be better for it”.

Adebowale added that Oyekanmi had greatly improved the image of the university in line with what he did.

The Registrar of the institution, Olubunmi Faluyi in the commendation letter maintained that Oyekanmi’s action was truly deserving of a special commendation as it was a testimony of his good work ethic and professionalism as a security officer.

She stated that Mr. Oyekanmi’s role in securing the University was worthy of praise.

She then encouraged Oyekanmi not to rest on his oars in the uplifting of the university.JAMB Result
