The sentence of alleged fraudster Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi, has been delayed for the fourth time by the United States Central District Court in California.Infomation Guide Nigeria
The trial judge, Otis Wright, has set the new date for Hushpuppi’s sentencing as November 7, 2022, according to a court notice obtained by Premium Times.
“COUNSEL ARE NOTIFIED, the Sentencing is POSTPONED to November 7, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. for Defendant Ramon Olorunwa Abbas,” said the court’s notice of the sentencing delay.
Judge Wright initially rescheduled the sentencing hearing from February 14 to July 11, and again from September 21 to November 7.
Hushpuppi, 39, was arrested among 12 others in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) in June 2020 on suspicion of hacking, impersonation, scamming, financial fraud, and identity theft, and extradited to the United States for trial.

His extradition to the United States followed the UAE police’s announcement of his arrest in a special operation named “Fox Hunt 2,” in which he was accused of scamming 1.9 million victims to the tune of N168billion.
In July of 2021, he agreed to plead guilty to the multimillion–dollar fraud allegations brought against him by the U.S. government.
Abass subsequently signed into a plea bargain arrangement with the U.S. government in July 2021 in an effort to receive a lesser sentence.
According to court documents, he faces the possibility of twenty years in jail, three years of supervised release, a fine of $500,000, or twice the gross gain or gross loss resulting from the offence.
