US flew Oyo hotelier killed by herdsmen home for burial — Family

Ayorinde Owolabi, the brother of the late hotelier Olugbenga Owolabi, stated that the United States provided the Nigerian government with a deadline for locating his killers.Infomation Guide Nigeria

PUNCH Olugbenga and a hotel employee, Rachael Opadele, were reportedly kidnapped by gunmen in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, as reported by Metro.

On August 3, their kidnappers murdered them.

Olugbenga, a US citizen living in Maryland, chose to invest in the hospitality industry in his birthplace of Ogbomoso.

His funeral was held on October 1 at the Marylandbased Trinity Life Church.

Ayorinde told our correspondent on Monday that the United States government has requested that the Department of State Services bring his brother’s murderers to justice.

He said, “The American government wanted evidence and they came down here to do a post-mortem. Another post-mortem was done in the US before the burial. The case was presented at the United Nations meeting which was just concluded.

“They have given the Nigerian government a time frame to get the perpetrators; the instruction was given to the DSS office, but up till now, no arrest has been made. They already have the facts that herdsmen were behind the killing.Jamb Result

“The American government took his body from LAUTECH back to the US. A death certificate was obtained at the LAUTECH teaching hospital and also at the Delaware State Military Hospital, USA.”
