Like many other Nigerian music artists Wande Coal began singing as a teenager in his church choir but got into the entertainment industry as a dancer before connecting with Don Jazzy who attended school with him at Federal Government College Ijanikin, Lagos.
Don Jazzy has mentioned that they were secondary school buddies and Wande Coal’s mother, Mrs Ojosipe was his economic teacher back in college.
It was Don Jazzy who signed him into the defunct MO Hits Records in 2006. While at Mo Hits, he actively took part in the record productions, he was featured in D’Banj’s single “Loke Loke”, “Torisibe” and “why me”.

He also cleared the air in regards to their split, by stating that the departure of the black diamond from Mavin dynasty was as a result of irredeemable differences and inalignment of vision with no considerable solution at hand. In 2015, the black diamond released a seven tracked album which was his second studio album titled “Wanted”.
