Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, refuted Clem Agba’s remark on Thursday that state governors solely focus their development initiatives in metropolitan areas.Information Guide Nigeria
In a conversation with State House media following Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja, Agba stated that the governors pay no attention to the development of rural areas where the majority of the population resides.
He highlighted that urban infrastructure such as bridges and airports do not help the lives of the poor in rural areas, whereas poor roads impede the movement of agricultural goods to urban areas.
Wike, who spoke during the inauguration of the Rumuodogo link road in the Emohua local government area of Rivers State, stated that all infrastructure projects in the state are distributed fairly.
