Princess of Wales re-opens National Portrait Gallery

The Princess of Wales graced the occasion with her presence, rubbing shoulders with none other than the legendary Sir Paul McCartney and the renowned artist Tracey Emin. It was a momentous occasion that marked the culmination of a £41.3 million refurbishment project.

The Duchess of Cambridge, who holds the esteemed position of gallery patron, graced the art world with her presence as she inaugurated the new doors of the gallery in London this Tuesday. The gallery is set to open its doors to the public later this week, and the royal visit has certainly added to the excitement surrounding the event.

In a chance encounter at the gallery gift shop, the lovely and talented Nancy Shevell and her legendary husband, former Beatle Sir Paul, crossed paths with a fellow art enthusiast. The trio engaged in a lively discussion about Sir Paul’s impressive personal collection, leaving all in attendance thoroughly captivated.

The gallery’s new entrance doors have been graced with the exquisite artwork of award-winning British artist Emin. Earlier, she sat down for a chat with the artist, who has hand-drawn 45 stunning female portraits that have been cast in bronze.JAMB Result

Ms Emin said after the re-opening: “When I arrived, I was anxious.

“There was all these other things that were on my mind, and I totally forgot about the doors!

“So when I came up, I gasped – it was a big surprise and that lifted my energy.”

The Princess first visited the Mildred and Simon Palley Learning Centre, where she met children from Soho Parish Nursery and Westminster Family Hub undertaking a workshop on Beatrix Potter.

Kate noted the importance of introducing children to creativity that “captures their imagination” and spoke to three-year-old Raini, praising her work of art and its “buzzy bees”.

The gallery will be launching an Under 5’s programme in September, which will welcome families from the local community to the Gallery and encourage creative learning, play and exploration.NYSC Portal
