The organization latter transformed into Nigeria Computer Society in the year, 2002. That is when there was harmonization with other stakeholders and other interest groups.

Today, the Nigeria Computer Society is considered, the national platform to be used for the advancement of Information Technology Science and Information Technology Practice in the country. More so, we will be looking at the functions of the Nigeria Computer Society in this article.

What Are The Functions Of The Nigeria Computer Society?

The Nigeria Computer Society was established with a peculiar objective in the minds of those individuals who founded the Nigeria Computer Society.

While establishing the Nigeria Computer Society, the Society was assigned with a number of functions, and I am going to discuss these functions in this article. Below are these functions of the Nigeria Computer Society.

1. Promotes Education And Training Of Computer

2. Encourages Research To Advance Computer And Information Sciences

The Nigeria Computer Society functioned in the area of encouraging research work for the purpose of advancing computer and information sciences.

6. Advises Governments And Members And Other Competent Authorities

This is true for the Nigeria Computer Society, because they always served as a representative of the members of the public, while in every negotiation and every consultation with the federal government of Nigeria or the state government, even the local government, including their own agencies on some matters or policies that have to do or that affect the conduct of computing and the practice of computing.

Other areas that such policies may affect are the information technology and also system profession as well as, industry.

9. Contributes To The Formulation Of Policies Related To Computing

Every policy that relates to computing, and information technology, and also relates to system profession, called for the Nigeria Computer Society to make some input.

Therefore, the Nigeria Computer Society will make a contribution any time there is the need for policies formulation relating to computing.

The other areas of contributions made by the Nigeria Computer Society is that, it contributes, when there is need to develop and assess educational, as well as, training curricula, provided they relate to the profession of computing.
