Niger gov signs N243bn appropriation bill into law

Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello has signed into law an appropriations bill for 2023 totaling over N243 billion.Information Guide Nigeria

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the budget exceeded the N238 billion budget proposal provided to the state House of Assembly for approval by N5 billion.

Over N152 billion was spent on capital expenditures, while over N91 billion was spent on recurrent expenditures.

Administration received over N9 billion, economy received over N102 billion, law and justice received over N1 billion, and the social sector consumed over N38 billion.NYSC portal

Despite the lack of resources, Bello was optimistic that the budget will be to the benefit of the people.

However, the governor expressed optimism that the 2023 budget, if implemented to 90 percent, will result in a more prosperous Niger State.

In order to achieve the approval of the 2023 bill, he praised the legislature for their ongoing support of the executive branch, proactivity, and tireless labour.

Bello thanked the leadership and members of the state Budget and Planning Commission, as well as the ministries, departments, and agencies, for their contributions to the passage of the budget.

Abdullahi Bawa, speaker of the state House of Assembly, was represented by Alhaji Ahmed Marafa, member of the Chanchaga State Constituency, who presented the budget to the governor for approval.JAMB Result
