What is NECO?

The National Examination Council (NECO) body was created to replace the now-defunct National Board of Education Measurement (NBEM).Npower Recruitment

NECO is a Nigerian examination body that has been authorized to conduct both Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) and General Certificate in Education (GCE) exams in June/July and November/December, respectively; yearly.

What is the NECO examination number?

The National Examination Council (NECO) issues the NECO examination number to students or candidates who have successfully registered for the NECO examination.

The NECO examination number is a combination of numbers and letters which looks like this: 01234567AA.Check My NECO Result Without Examination Number

The NECO examination number issued to each candidate is unique and cannot be issued to another candidate writing the examination in the same year. What this means is that the NECO examination number can be recycled in another (i.e., to say that someone else could have your NECO number if they wrote the exam in a different year from the year you wrote yours).

Asides from being used as a means of identification in a particular year, the NECO examination number can be used to personalize the NECO examination booklet. In addition to that, it can also be used to check the NECO results after it has been officially released.

How to check NECO result without examination number

First off, you can’t check your NECO results without your examination number. The reason for this is because NECO uses the examination number to identify each candidate and without it, checking your results will be practically impossible.JAMB Form

When checking your NECO results online, you’ll be asked to provide the following:

  • The exam year
  • The type of exam you wrote; here, you can pick either NECO Internal or NECO External
  • The token number you purchased
  • Your NECO examination number or registration number (they both mean the same thing)

So now you know that checking your results without your examination number is practically impossible, what do you do? It’s simple, you can just go ahead to retrieve your NECO examination number and use the retrieved number to check your results.

How to retrieve NECO Examination Number

Your NECO examination results cannot be accessed without your examination number. Hence, recovering or retrieving is paramount.

If you have misplaced or forgotten your examination number, then you can retrieve it by following the steps outlined below:WAEC Result

  • Visit the NECO office in your state and request your examination number
  • You’ll be asked to provide your full name, type of examination, exam centre, year of examination, and other details which you’ll have to answer accurately to help them filter your examination number
  • Alternatively, you can pay a visit to the exam centre where you wrote your examination to retrieve your examination number. Upon arriving at the centre, you can ask the exam officer or principal of your centre (i.e., if you wrote the NECO Internal examination) and ask for it.
