Under the scheme, a total of 450,000 people are selected under the graduate component while 60,000 beneficiaries will be a non-graduate N-Power volunteer corps.

NPower Batch C Stream 1 Recruitment

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, who led off the scheme yesterday in Abuja, said the graduates would be placed on a monthly stipend of N30,000 for a period of one year while the non-graduate beneficiaries will earn N10,000 monthly stipend for a period of nine months.

She said all the beneficiaries were granted an appropriate starter pack for their trade to enable them to start their businesses in their chosen trades.

The graduate programme is further sub-divided into N-Teach under which volunteers are trained and attached as assistant teachers in primary schools, the N-Agro volunteers are attached as extension agents to support farmers to obtain better performance, while the N-Health volunteers are trained and attached to work as public health assistants mainly in public primary healthcare facilities.

The N-Health volunteers are also trained to provide basic diagnostic services in the Primary Health Care Development Centres and will teach preventive healthcare to community members including pregnant women, children, families and individuals especially in rural areas.

“The Non-Graduate programmme targets youth in the age bracket of 18 – 25 with a minimum of secondary school education. The programme seeks to deliver skills to job / enterprise through accelerated training and certification. They are trained, tooled and transitioned to take up jobs as electrical installation technicians, plumbing and pipe-fitting installers, masons, carpentry and joinery experts, automobile technicians, agric technician and hospitality experts,” Farouq said.

N-POWER Recruitment 2021: Application Form Portal, Requirements and Guide

N-power, like I stated at the beginning, is a National social and economic investment scheme of the present federal government to equip young unemployed Nigerians with employability skills. It is a special economic development programme targeted at the youth aimed to equip them with world-class skills and certification in food security, creativity in new technology and self-sufficiency. Although I haven’t benefitted personally from the N-power scheme, I have friends, colleagues and relatives whose lives have been changed for good through the scheme.

Career Overview for the N-power Programme

N-power is specially programmed for young Nigerian graduates of all category including Bachelor’s Degree holders, Higher National Diploma, HND holders, Ordinary National Diploma, OND holders, National Certificate of Education holders and any other qualification in that category. N-power recruitment is in volunteer capacity, but goes with reward of reasonable stipend which we will look into in the next section. Volunteers are to serve between 3 months to 2 years of learning and earning as the federal government empowers successful participants to create jobs in the economy and be self-sufficient.

Although participants of the N-power scheme are not in permanent government employment, they benefit from the different empowerment packages especially volunteers of N-power Agro, N-power Tech Software and N-power Tech Hardware. Even those in the N-power Teach and N-power Creative also have empowerment packages to help in the continuous practice and perfection of their acquired skills. There are various fields where participants can choose from.

The N-power scheme is designed for graduates in virtually all the fields of human endeavor namely: N-power Agro, N-power Build, N-power Creative, N-power Health, N-power Teach, N-power Tech Hardwar and N-power Tech Software. Requirements for N-power Recruitment / Selection

Although there are specific requirements for each package of the N-power programme, below are the general requirements:

  1. Applicant must be unemployed graduate or non-graduate
  2. Expression of genuine interest in whichever package an applicant is interested in
  3. Applicant must hold relevant qualification of the field interested in
  4. Applicant must have the ability to pass the relevant test
  5. Willingness to push yourself beyond your comfort zone
  6. Ability to show a flair to develop all the skills you need to be the best you can be
  7. Applicant must be between the ages of 18 – 35 years old
  8. Applicant must possess problem solving skills
  9. Applicant must have the ability to undertake self-tutorship
  10. Applicants must possess analytical skills

N-power Salary structure for Beneficiaries

N-power beneficiaries are officially referred to as Volunteers because it is supposed to be just a skills acquisition and training programme, but out of government benevolence a stipend is paid to the volunteers to cover their expenses. However, there are special empowerment packages for beneficiaries at the completion of the programme in material such as computer devices and other technology gadgets to help them consolidate the acquired skills and knowledge

Meanwhile, the following is the breakdown of the salary structure for N-power beneficiaries:

N-power Health = N30, 000 – N40, 000

N-power Teach = N 28,000 – N30, 000

N-power Build = N27, 000 – N30, 000

N-power Agro = N25, 000 – N30, 000

N-power Tech Hardware = N20, 000 – N40, 000

N-power Tech Software = N20, 000 – N40, 000

N-power Community Education = N10, 000 – N30, 000

The N-power recruitment 2021 registration/application portal opened at 11:45 pm on 26 June and closed 12 midnight on 8 August.
