Civil servants will get full allowances Jan – Ngige

Dr Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment, has stated that federal public servants’ allowances will be paid in full by January as soon as President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) approves the payment.Information Guide Nigeria

Ngige said this while taking questions from media on Thursday. He stated that, contrary to rumours that the Federal Government was considering a salary hike for public officials, the genuine position was that federal government servants’ allowances would be paid in full as soon as Buhari approved the payment.

He stated that the notion of giving allowances to federal civil officials was considered as part of attempts to mitigate the effects of the country’s current economic difficulty.JAMB portal

The minister revealed that the workers’ allowances had been tallied by the ministry and sent to the President for approval.

According to him, the subject of wage increases and remuneration for workers is not a unilateral choice, as it will require a roundtable discussion between the workers union and the Federal Government before any salary adjustment can be implemented.NYSC portal

Ngige praised the Buhari administration for the Second Niger Bridge, the Enugu-Okigwe-Umuahia-Aba-Port Harcourt road, and the rehabilitation and upgrade of the Enugu Airport.
