How to Check if Your NIN is BVN-Generated

What is the Difference Between NIMC-generated NIN & BVN-generated NIN

Whereas, the BVN-generated NINs are identity numbers generated for you during your BVN registration a few years ago. While generating your BVN number, your financial institution automatically creates an identification number (NIN) to complete the procedure. However, if the NIN created is not validated by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), then you will not be able to access the NIMC Mobile ID app, and other facilities.

How to Validate BVN-Generated NIN

Do you wish to validate your BVN-generated NIN number? Then follow the procedures below:

  1. Go to the nearest NIMC center with your Bank Verification Number (BVN), and BVN-generated NIN
  2. Upon getting there, inform the attendant that you wish to validate your NIN
  3. A NIN validation form will be issued to you
  4. Fill and complete the form given to you
  5. After filling the form successfully, submit the form back to the attendant
  6. Your application will be processed by NIMC
  7. You will be notified once your application is approved.WAEC result
