An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court remanded Olaleye on Wednesday after he took his plea on two-count bordering on defilement of a child and sexual assault by penetration preferred against him by the Lagos State government.

The offenses violated Sections 137 and 261 of the Lagos State Criminal Code of 2015. However, Olaleye pled not guilty to the allegations brought against him.
In light of the defendant’s not-guilty plea, Justice Ramon Oshodi granted him bail in the amount of N50 million with two sureties in the same amount who must own land in the state.NYSC portal
The judge directed that both sureties must additionally submit proof of tax payment to the state government within the previous three years.
In addition, Justice Oshodi ordered the defendant to surrender his international passport, including his British passport, and original land documents with the court registrar.
Prior to this, Olaleye’s attorney, Babatunde Ogala, SAN, requested bail for his client on the basis that the defendant-applicant was eager to continue with his trial.JAMB portal
Ogala said, “He is ready to provide reliable and credible sureties. He has not denied the fact that he has been under investigation in a matter that started in 2021; the defendant has not failed to appear before the police, he on his own walked into this court.”

A junior counsel asked the judge to grant Olaleye seven days to comply with the bail conditions after the judge announced the conditions.
The judge nevertheless directed that the defendant be remanded in Ikoyi Correctional Centre and delayed the trial until December 19 and 21, 2022.JAMB Result
