Who is a Stocker?

A Stocker is an employee who is responsible for the inventory of all products in a store, warehouse, or both. It is the responsibility of a Stocker to ensure that customers can quickly locate and obtain the products they require without any difficulty.

It is also known as inventory clerks, which receive goods and pack them in stores, ensuring that displays are appealing and prices are marked. They are also in charge of educating consumers about offers and answering questions.

Stockers (or stock clerks) are in charge of making sure that shelves, bins, displays, storage, and aisles are correctly supplied so that customers can discover and purchase the merchandise they want. Also, they frequently operate in retail or warehouse environments, receiving, unloading, and unpacking cartons, crates, and boxes of bulk or packaged goods, and inspecting labels and information before moving them to their proper location.

Stocker job qualifications/skills

  • High school diploma or GED recommended.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical operations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing into all units of measurement, as well as determining percentages and ratios.
  • Reading and comprehension of brief instructions, short communications, and memoranda in English.
  • Have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull big loads weighing 75 pounds.

  • Ability to operate while bending, stooping, climbing, and reaching.
