Teachers, heart of educational devt —Obi

Obi, who made this known in his Message for World Teachers Day 2022, praised all teachers in Nigeria for their dedication to guarantee that Nigerian kids at all educational levels acquire a good educational and moral formation. He stated that by playing a crucial role in advancing the educational sector, they contribute to national progress and development, of which education is an essential component.

Obi urged the instructors to strive every day to be learning and character role models for their children. In addition, he pushed students to enhance their knowledge and abilities regularly, to keep up with the dynamic and ever-changing global education system, and to be on par with their peers worldwide.

The top presidential candidate bemoaned that the government’s persistent disregard for education has resulted in blatant disregard for the welfare of teachers. He stated that the persistent strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) demonstrates the continuous neglect education has suffered in the country due to poor governance.

“It remains unimaginable that after  eight months of industrial action by the ASUU, the Federal Government is yet to find a lasting solution to the issue which has lingered over the years. How can we achieve a truly progressive nation with education and teachers’ welfare continually relegated to the background,” Obi queried.
