Why we called off planned protest – Truckers

The Council of Maritime Transport Unions and Association, COMTUA, has cancelled its planned withdrawal of service from the nation’s ports due to threats by thugs to hijack the demonstration.Infomation Guide Nigeria

Comrade Adeyinka Aroyewun, president of COMTUA, told Vanguard that the organisation received intelligence that some thugs were paid to disrupt and hijack the protest, causing the organisation to retreat and re-strategize.

Aroyewun added that COMTUA had an extraordinary meeting early in the morning after observing that the Military has begun to comply with the protocol and procedure for entering and exiting ports to load commodities.

A portion of the Councils statement goes as follows: “At an Extraordinary leadership meeting of COMTUA convened early this morning, the following resolution was reached.
