Huawei G-Power Review: Specifications and Price

This is an unbiased review on the Huawei G-Power. Huawei G-Power is primed to give Nigerians the satisfaction they have always craved for. If there was anything synonymous to profit on investment it is definitely the Huawei G-Power.’’

At last the long period of waiting is over for android enthusiasts in Nigeria. As Huawei in partnership with Jumia; the leading E-commerce site in Africa have finally launched the Huawei G-Power (Y6 Pro) dubbed “the power of sharing” on the 15th of February, 2016.

Literally, the Huawei G-Power is a power bank with 4000mAh Li-polymer battery. It is a power laden device with the ability to deliver quality talk and media time. And can also charge other phones courtesy of its reverse charge feature. As well possess a unique fast charge feature that guarantees adequate charge in just 10mins.

Aside these powerful battery features, the G-power features other spectacular specs such as 5 inch HD display, 13MP rear snapper, and a fast 2GB RAM processor. All packed in a decently designed body. And sold at a give away price along with a free bluetooth swan speaker (worth #11,500).

Follow me as I unbox the amazing features of this great device.


Huawei G-Power DESIGN

Huawei did not disappoint with the design of the Huawei G-Power. The device sports an aesthetically modern and elegant water-ripple design that is finished in a combo of plastic body and metal frame.

As expected, the front of the phone is the 5 inches HD display accommodating the soft keys at the bottom and the 5MP snapper at the top.

The neatly chamfered metallic frame accommodates the power and volume buttons at the right hand side. The microUSB charging port at the bottom with machine drilled iPhone-like speakers flaunting the port by the left and right side. While the top side of the frame accommodates the headphone jack.

The neatly finished rear accommodates the 13MP rear snapper and its accompanying LED flash at the top middle corner. While the Huawei logo is boldly inscribed at the middle of the rear cover.

At just 8.5mm, the device is still quite slim. And available in 3 beautiful colours; black, white and gold.

In all, the HuaweivG-Power is stylishly beautiful and looks rather premium for a mid-range smartphone. Ergonomically, the device is solid, feels good to handle and fits well into the pocket.


Huawei G-Power DISPLAY

The Huawei G-power sports a screen size of 5 inches. As such guarantees users of satisfying viewing experience.

The 5 inch display is an HD touchscreen. With a resolution of 1280 by 720. Which translates into a pixel density of 294ppi.

All these are packaged in a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to ensure that your valuable display is always protected.

This makes it suitable for watching videos, playing games, surfing the web and working on word documents.

Moreso, it is sure capable of satisfying your everyday viewing needs. As the colour displays are vibrant and punchy.

However, the Huawei G-Power does not offer the best of displays. But coming from an affordable mid-range smartphone, we can forgive the compromise.


Huawei G-Power CAMERA

The Huawei G-Power sports a 13MP primary camera thoughtfully placed at the top middle corner of the rear. This allows you capture breathtaking photos. The photo taking capability of the phone is further enhanced by a host of amazing features attached to the camera sensor such as 2.0 aperture, LED flash, and other modes like the panorama and ultra-fast snapshot. Switching to video recording is simply by tapping on the “video” icon on the camera on screen.

The 5MP front facing snapper equally looks capable of taking clear and crisp selfies and wefies.



Under the hood, the Huawei G-Power is well packed to ensure you have the best experience. The Huawei G-Power runs Android OS v5.1(Lollipop). Without much tweaking from Huawei, the user interface still looks more like Android stock with pre-installed apps and themes for customization if required. Thus, it is quite easy to find your way around if you are used to android stock.

Internally, the device is powered by a 64 bit Quad-core processor likely from Mediatek. This is clocked at 1.3GHz. All these goes to ensure that the Huawei G-Power works seamlessly.

The Huawei G-Power comes fitted with a 2GB RAM and 16GB internal. This seems likely not to be enough memory to accommodate large files. But, its expandability via microSD card makes this compromise pardonable.

Thus, with the G-Power, Huawei assures every user of seamless multitasking and smooth Android experience.

So, whether you are playing games, watching videos, or surfing the internet, you are assured of fluid-fast operations.


Huawei G-Power BATTERY

Like I stated earlier, the battery features is the highlight of the Huawei G-Power. The Huawei G-Power is powered by a mammoth battery with standard capacity of 4000mAh.

This according to Huawei can guarantee a user of 113 hours of listening to music, 39 hours of call time, 18 hours of video streaming and 15 hours of Internet surfing on a singular full charge.

Aside these, the Huawei G-Power also has a fast charge feature that guarantees a user of 3 hours of call time with just 10 minutes of charge.

In addition to this amazing battery features, the Huawei G-Power features reverse charge spec which allows it to charge other devices using the OTG cable. Thus, making it a power bank.



On the onnectivity front, the Huawei G-Power offers you all you can get from a mid-range smartphone. Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi, 3G and microUSB port. However, features such as IR blaster and NFC and 4G LTE are missing.
