1. Advises Federal Government

The Nigerian broadcasting corporation has a role to play in advising the federal government on some policies that have to do with national mass communication.

Generally, the government would want to know how the national mass communication policy could be implemented, as a broadcasting corporation, what the Nigerian broadcasting corporation does is to, in terms of implementing this policy, advise the federal government particularly, in the area of broadcasting. Besides the regulation of the activities of the broadcasting industry, the Nigerian broadcasting corporation also regulates ethical standards, it regulates technical excellence in both public broadcasting stations and private broadcasting stations, including commercial broadcast stations in Nigeria. And the Nigerian broadcasting corporation do enforces total compliance to this ethical standard.
