The activation of the lines caused the country’s teledensity to increase by 0.52 percent, from 109.47% in July to 109.99 percent in August, according to the most recent subscription data from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

According to the figures, Globacom, as it did in July, had the most subscriptions in August with 538,324 lines, followed by 9mobile with 163,484, MTN with 160,155, and Airtel with 134,804.
GSM players raised the number of Internet-connected users from 151.4 million in July to 151.7 million in August, while broadband penetration users grew from 84.9 million to 85.2 million and from 44.49 percent to 44.65 percent within a month.
MTN retained its market leadership with 79.6 million customers and 37.9 percent penetration; Globacom is in second place with 58.8 million subscribers and 28.09 percent market share.
With 27.85 percent market share and 58.3 million customers, Airtel is the third largest telecoms company in the country. 9mobile maintained its 6.9% market share in Nigeria, with 12.7 million customers.
In the meantime, the NCC urged the Nasarawa State Scholarship Board (NSSB) to raise awareness about digital literacy in order to assist the commission in raising awareness about its intervention projects pertaining to research and digital literacy in order to provide citizens with more opportunities.
