The interim joint matriculation board examination (IJMB) was set up by the Federal Governement of Nigeria in 1974 under status 5 of the Ahmadu Bello University law to run the interim joint matriculation board examination (IJMBE)as an alternative “A” level Examination, for students or candidate who may wish to seek undergraduate admission into Ahmadu Bello University and other universities. The interim joint matriculation board examination (IJMB) is a qualifying examination into Nigeria and other international Universities. In addition, two ordinary level(O/L) subjects (English and Mathematics) are also offered for students who may be deficient in these two (O/L) subjects. The various subjects offered at the IJMB are listed in appendix1.2, Each candidate registered for the IJMB is expected to offer three subjects at the Advanced level; and where the need arise one or both the ordinary level subjects. 1.2 ADMISSION ENTRY REQUIREMENT:
Admission into the IJMB programme requires at least five (5) O/L credit passes including Mathematics and English Language. These five subjects include three ‘A’ level courses/ subjects which the students wish to offer. In addition, awaiting results (SSCE) is also allowed.
