Construction Engineer

  1. Maintain compliance with the safety-assurance plan so that work is completed in an ecologically responsible and safe way.
  2. Conduct safety observations and conversations (SOCs) to aid in the establishment of a zero-incident culture.
  3. Oversee the “approval to proceed” procedure for contractors.
  4. Participate in engineering package reviews during the project’s select, define, and execute phases, and provide constructive feedback to the design team.
  5. Assist off-site project leaders through the project’s stage-gated procedure.
  6. Assist the off-site project leader and design teams in the development of functional project systemization for certification guidance (GOC)
  7. Encourage construction and operations workers to assess design packages early in the project’s life cycle to reduce rework and optimize construction.
  8. Anticipate and resolve problems in the field to avoid costly rework or retesting.
  9. Coordination with the Quality Assurance (QA) and Functional Checkout (FCO) groups is required to ensure that work is completed in accordance with plans and specifications.
  10. Coordination with customers to ensure that proposed construction and work procedures are understood and accepted, as well as agreement on environmental and safety work plans for permitting.

  12. Track progress to verify that scheduling milestones are understood and met.
  13. Coordination with the construction contractor and the project manager is required to resolve field differences in design packages and material delays.
