Justice Abimbola Awogboro sentenced the ex-police officer and a Nigerian residing in Burkina Faso, Christian Owanebi, to seven years in prison for the same offence.

Friday, the judge ruled that all charges against the convicted individuals were proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
She claimed that the suspect charged her N200,000 for her travel expenses and to obtain a job for her, but decreased the amount to N150,000 after they had sex.
When the victim arrived in Burkina Faso, the suspect allegedly confiscated her phone and handed her over to a lady named Madam Eunice, who the victim claimed was a social sex worker.

She claimed that Madam Eunice prepared her for the work by lecturing her on how to attract customers, and that she slept with an average of 10 to 12 men per day and earned 85,000 CFA each day.
“After one week, Owanebi, who lives with his wife in Burkina Faso, told me he was travelling back to Nigeria. He gave me his phone because my phone was seized from me pending the time I would pay the outstanding debt for my travel expenses.
“I asked Owanebi to visit my mother, who lives in Lagos, to give him some money. Owanebi then promised to call me so that I could speak with my mother,” she added.

She claimed that they took blood from her hand and combined it with palm oil, iron rods, red clothing, and a razor to create the mixture using palm oil, iron rods, red clothing, and a razor.
According to Onyinyechi, the oath was taken before a herbalist. However, the adolescent had the confidence to tell her mother about the incident. Her mother then contacted law enforcement to apprehend Owanebi and his accomplice.
The judge determined that the arguments presented by the defendants’ counsel were an afterthought. The first defendant, Owanebi, who had skipped bail, was found guilty on all counts and sentenced to seven years in jail by Justice Awogboro.
The judge, however, sentenced the ex-police officer to a year in prison for each count, stating that he had been present in court without fail.
She ruled that the sentences should begin to run concurrently on Friday, when the verdict was issued.
Onyinyechi, a 19-year-old female, was allegedly procured for prostitution in Burkina Faso through a conspiracy amongst the defendants.
The prosecutor for NAPTIP, Chinedu Akaegbu, informed the court that the infractions were committed in November of 2012.
Oyinbo seduced Onyinyechi into prostitution, according to the testimony of Onyinyechi, who spoke with an emotional tone before the court.
The victim claimed she was employed as a maid in the Ajah neighbourhood of Lagos when she was approached by Oyinbo, who offered to find her a job as a store attendant in Burkina Faso.
