Shampoos are not different from detergents. However, they are basically detergents used for taking care of the hair and scalp. Shampoo is defined as a thick, viscous liquid that is used for washing the hair and scalp to make them shine.
It is the liquid used to remove sebum from the hair and scalp. Sebum refers to excess oil, dirt and skin dirt formed on the hair and scalp.
Shampoos like detergents also foam in water and are easily washed off from the hair and scalp. They are hair care products which come in form of viscous liquids and opaque pastes. They are used in hairdressing saloons and homes.
The properties of a good shampoo are:
1. It must have a pH of 5.5.
2. It must be easy to rinse off.
3. It must give a rich foaming lather in water.
4. It must have a long shelf life.
